So, just in case you were unaware, this has been a pretty great weekend. That Spring arrived on Saturday is undoubtedly the chief cause of this pretty greatness, but there were other things, too. Things like:
- buying cheese at the Amish store
- plotting the acquisition of new (used) books
- Google Reader
- Discovering new park benches within walking distance of work, whereupon to set in the sunshine and eat lunch and read books.*
- SPRING!!! (It’s worth mentioning again.)
- Emergen-C and its restorative effects
- attending a live performance of Romeo & Juliet*
- planning week-long trips to the beach in June
- strawberry short-cake
- books in the mail*
- spell checkers
- having episodes of House and The Office on dvr
- finding another bookcase to house more books
- good advice from friends to practice blogging
*events occurred on friday, and were great enough and close enough to the weekend to be included.

I googled Gene Stratton Porter. I didn’t know she was a girl, or that she wrote Girl of the Limberlost. I’ve never read the book, but my parents had the movie (from Focus on the Family’s film collection) and I liked the movie. I’m adding her to my want-list. ~ L

Of all the GSP books I’ve read, “Freckles” is my absolute favorite! I HIGHLY recommend that you read it first!

Ooo, L’Engle – good choice. I’ve never heard of Porter. Which of his is a good place to start?
Cheese is a favorite food, and I’m convinced it tastes better when it comes from a unique shop. Amish cheese is good, if I remember. ~ L

And which books, pray, may these be?

Well, as for the books I’m plotting to get, my most immediate goal is to complete my collection of Gene Stratton Porter books. (As I say, that’s only my most immediate book related goal… I have many others.)
As for the books to be read on my new favorite park bench, I’m finishing up Annie Dillard and I think next will either be C.S. Lewis or Andree Seu. (Or possibly Flannery O’Conner.)
The book I got in the mail was a hardback copy of ‘A Wrinkle in Time’… I’ve also decided that I need to firm up my L’Engle collection.
